Colour and Shape of Blues

What is for you, to listen a good blues?
That's a good question for blues lovers, isn't it? We can select hundreds of blues styles of playing, like in rock n' roll, blues have many ways to be played, and we surely can valorize all of them.

From B.B. King to Steve Ray Vaughan, the list of artistis is incredible and big. Today's discussion is about one of the "new generation" of blues, the singer and guitar player Joe Bonamassa.

His music is built on the 60's and 70's rock and roll, with a special and more evident touch of blues. If you ever heard a song, you know what I'm talking about. His formula is simple: Think in a band like Aerosmith, they of course have a touch of blues. That's our beginning. Now add to this formular one more touch of blues: 70's Rock and Roll + Blues² = Joe Bonamassa. Yes, we have the style of this great musician and instrumentist.

B.B. King actually recorded with Joe, and Bonamassa said that was the most incredible experience in his life. His influence walks throught: BB King himself, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and Steve Ray Vaughan. This last one is the most notable influence, just like Eric Clapton.

Enjoy a good music today.

See you next post people.

After the love has gone

Long life to this incredible and touching hit from Earth, Wind & Fire. This song is considered one of the R&Bs Greatests hits, and most of the people have listened to it at least one time, and know surely how to continue doing the melody.

According to Wikipedia: "After the Love Has Gone" was nominated for a Grammy for Record of the Year and won for Best R&B Vocal Performance by Duo or Group. After the Love Has Gone has been placed on Bruce Pollock's list of The 7,500 Most Important Songs of 1944-2000. Composed by David Foster, Jay Graydon and Bill Champlin, this song was produced and singed all these years by the genious Maurice White. The way he sings and transfer his emotion to us, is extremely incredible.

And what do we have to say about that Saxophone solo? Awesome? I really don't know if I have the rights words about it. The brazilian musician Ed Motta, said once that this solo made him like jazz as he likes today. Composed and executed by Don Myrick, this solo is completely jazz, and show us a feeling, provinient of the soul music.

That's it people. I finish this post with their live concert from the DVD: Earth, Wind & Fire: Live in Japan. Want to buy it? Acess Amazon.com

Jazz And '80s

After the Welcome Post, we're are online. And I want, in this first official post, talk about a coll jazz Cd I found when I was looking for some nice and interesting Jazz songs.

After some hours I found three interesting Cds, where the greatest hits of the lasts decades are put togheter and performed by jazz musicians. So, I picked Jazz and the 80's one part of this collection, and in my opinion the best one, to talk about.

What greatest sucess of the 80's can we remember? Of course the King of Pop, is one figure that certainly most of the people have in mind when we talk about these years. From rock we also have U2 and The Police. Here the version of Beat it, from Michael Jackson.

Have you liked? I just loved what they did. The main band that plays is form by the singer Karen Souza, with her beautiful and soft voice. How about a U2 Jazz?

Listen to this guitar in the beginning, after the piano. Just awesome, completely transformed to jazz, and don't loose to the original one.

Finishing, they did a fantastic job, and I make this a recomendation for those who love Jazz performances and love the 80s too. It's not of course for all. Those who don't have a jazzistic touch will not like, but for those who love a smooth, it's a gift.

Take care.
